Tigersharks Defeat Marshall County; Fall to Makos
On Saturday, June 30, the Sewanee Tigersharks Swim Team hosted a double-dual meet at the Fowler Center Natatorium in their last competition of the regular season prior to the RACE League Championships. The Tigersharks defeated the Marshall County Swim Club 363 point to 181 points and were defeated by the Manchester Makos by 365 points to 269 points.
Several Tigershark swimmers had exceptional performances at the meet, finishing first or second in one or more event: Sawyer Barry (2nd in 8 & U Boys 25 Breaststroke), Sienna Barry (1st in 11-12 Girls 50 Butterfly), Lily Camp (1st in 8 & U Girls 25 Breaststroke and 2nd in 25 Freestyle), Sam Frazier (1st in 8 & U Boys 25 Breaststroke, 25 Backstroke, and 100 Individual Medley), Konrad Knoll (1st in 8 & U Boys 25 Freestyle and 25 Butterfly, 2nd in 8 & U Boys 100 Individual Medley), Zolon Knoll (1st in 13-14 Boys 50 Breaststroke, 100 Individual Medley, and 50 Butterfly), Kiran Malde (1st in 9-10 Boys 25 Breaststroke, 25 Backstroke, and 25 Butterfly), Maya Mauzy (1st in 11-12 50 Free, 2nd in 11-12 100 Individual Medley and 50 Backstroke), Reese Michaels (1st in 11-12 Girls 50 Breaststroke, 100 Individual Medley, and 50 Backstroke), Caroline Neubauer (1st in 9-10 Girls 25 Backstroke and 2nd in 25 Butterfly), Jack Roberts (1st in 6 & U Boys 25 Backstroke and 2nd in 25 Freestyle), Will Roberts (2nd in 8 & U Boys 25 Freestyle, 25 Backstroke, and 25 Butterfly), Aidan Smith (1st in 15-18 Boys 50 Freestyle and 50 Butterfly), Rosalinda Thompson (2nd in 8 & U Girls 25 Freestyle), and Toby Van de Ven (2nd in 11-12 Boys 50 Breaststroke). The Tigershark relays were highly successful in several age groups with 1st place finishes by the following teams: 8 & U Medley Relay of Vaeh Crosby, Konrad Knoll, Sam Frazier, and Lily Camp; 8 & U Boys Freestyle Relay of Konrad Knoll, Will Roberts, Archer Ladd, and Sam Frazier; 15-18 Boys Freestyle Relay of Aidan Smith, Larson Heitzenrater, Harrison Hartman, and Porter Neubauer.
Two new team records were set by 8 year old Sam Frazier, who broke his own team record of 1:39.54 in the 100 m Individual Medley set last week against McMinnville with a new best time of 1:39.12, and whose time of 21.44 sec in the 25 Backstroke broke Will Raulston’s 2003 record of 18.48.
Many Tigershark swimmers dropped time in the meet, including new swimmers Flynn Allen (10.38 sec drop in 8 & U Freestyle and 9.80 sec drop in 25 Backstroke), Cabell Thompson (17.60 sec drop in 8 & U Freestyle), and Ludmilla Zasedatelev (10.28 sec drop in 6 & U girls Freestyle).
The final meet of the season is the RACE League Championships, hosted by the Sewanee Tigersharks, on June 14 at the University of the South Natatorium.
